The Parish makes some severe promises to:
By making such promises, the 50-50 Plan shapes the Parish itself, making it more responsive to what the households of the Parish need and want to live their faith more fully.
Likewise, the household (no matter how it's comprised) also makes severe promises: to use the ordinary events of everyday Christian life as catechesis. Hence, the 50-50 Plan also shapes the households and provides ongoing and profound renewal of heart throughout the Parish.
In general, we're here for you to help deepen and affirm your faith and your way of life. We promise to assemble each Sunday to celebrate the Lord's Supper and to welcome you to join us. Beyond that, we promise to provide resources that help you guide the disciples within your household to the Christian Way of Life.
Franciscan Institute at Home
The Diocese of Lafayette has partnered with Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, to give everyone in the diocese access to workshops to help their religious formation. Although some workshops are geared towards teachers and catechists, they may provide information on topics many of us want to know more about (i.e., the Eucharist, Mary, New Testament, Old Testament). Visit www.franciscanathome.com/diolaf (see link on the sidebar) to create your account. In addition, the office of Catechetics has a 3-minute video on their webpage, www.diolaf.org/christian-formation, that will direct you on how to make your account. St. Charles Parish has already been placed in the system, so create your account after selecting our Parish. We believe this is a beautiful opportunity to grow in our faith.
Ignatian Spirituality
St. Ignatius of Loyola established the Spiritual Exercises to grow in union with God and discern God's will. Through daily meditation, prayer, and contemplation, practitioners report finding peace and meaning in their lives and relationships with God and others. As a result, they have greater confidence in their life decisions. Spiritual Exercises are the critical spiritual ingredient that helps them center themselves more fully toward Jesus.
