WELCOME!
We are excited and proud to partner with you as you accompany your youth in this part of their faith journey. To best facilitate our Church's Catechetical Program for grades 6,7 & 8, we have made some slight changes to this program, which are listed below.
- Change the program name from "Six Steps to Easter" to "Pre-Journey to Confirmation."
- Change instructional guidebooks from the "Call to Faith Series" to the "Alive in Christ Series."These changes were to ease the alignment and transition from one program to the next and anticipate potential Diocesan changes to all Catechetical Programs.
- New Diocesan GLEs (Grade Level Expectations) with an added focus on TOB (Theology of the Body)
This course of study focuses on evangelizing our youth and equipping them with the skills necessary to be evangelizers. Alive in Christ Faith Guidebooks invite young people to develop a deeper relationship with Christ. It is intentional in its focus on the life, mission, and saving work of Jesus Christ. Below is a brief description of the courses.
Alive in Christ for Young Adolescents - Pre-Journey to Confirmation
- Provides Sacred Scripture from both the Old Testament and New Testaments
- Provides an authentic and comprehensive presentation of the essentials of Catholic teaching
- It incorporates the most trusted research on how young people learn, communicate, and grow in their faith.
- It incorporates the gradual and relational way God teaches us so we can know him and his truth, be guided in The Holy Spirit to respond with faith and love and accept the gift of new life in Christ.
- Presents and effectively implements the six fundamental tasks of catechesis.
- Evangelizes and forms Evangelizers.
Through relevant moral dilemmas, the students will take on the mind of Christ and become aware of the Holy Spirit's Gifts and Fruits.
